Y2K impact may not end Jan. 1

But the utility hasn't spent much time
predicting the interactions of other
date-sensitive systems - hardware, software
or embedded - beyond the first day of the
new year, he says.

. . .

McConnell uses the example of the United
States' telephone system, which he says will
almost certainly maintain its "mission-critical"
function of placing and receiving calls. But
he says there are known Y2K vulnerabilities in
the "noncritical" areas of billing and service
management.

Probably be lots of "billing errors" at some point. I have begun a spreadsheet in Excel to track all long distant phone calls for billing reconciliation. I am now learning how to read the meters for utils so I can verify these too (if there will be any utils). Maybe kinda ANAL but to me it's CYA for a while. Rotsa ruck !

And Gates plans on buying the U.s. Navy so he can live on ships in case Y2K turns ugly. Looks like the herd is finally sniffing the cow patties in the pasture. Betta' buy gold and go shopping while we still can, but I heard Goskinem singing everything gonna be ohkay on the radio, so maybe we can still go shopping. Slick Willie wants a third term so we know martial law will take place in September.

Hey Spider,

That's why it's called Y2K, not D2K.

Post several days said "How will we know?" If the world hasn't died by day 3, it won't be TEOTWAWKI. If the Third World has not gone to hell by day 10, it won't be a 8. If everything is pretty much Ok by day 50, it won't be higher than a 5.

But just like tornadoes, it can be a 10 where you are and only a 3 anywhere around you.

SO PREPARE
