What network???

Yep, in the end they made a bonfire of all the toilet paper and said to not be afraid of the millennium.

Hope they're right, millions of people watch that show.

Don't ask me why, but I got the feeling that the ending was not what was originally written. The dream with the pin-ball machine was pretty abrupt, and the burning of stockpiled toilet paper -- as well as a handsome grandfather clock that was bought rather than a computer, with the computer triumphantly purchased after all -- was outrageously symbolic, to say the least.

Amazingly, up until the idiotic pin-ball dream, Y2K was actually given reasonable (though humorous) treatment. But the end said it all.

Truly sad, given that it is apparently a very popular show.

Yes KOS, it was pretty credible until their ending, of course their "ending" happened before Christmas, right!

It's a cartoon, get a grip!

yea its a cartoon alright. Addressing one of the biggest topics in 1000years.

Have to agree with his highness. To realistic even down to mentioneing lines of code and 50billion imbedded chips. With lines for propane. Hoarding, computers failing at retail stores, Toilet paper. I don't know who wrote the show but it was obviously someone that has done a credible amount of reading.

Until the end----what a joke,---but it does show how powerful media is, even from a Stupid Cartoon!!

I loved it! I laughed till I cried. Gerble soup...no cigs...etc.etc. You can laugh or cry... Git a grip..at least smile!!

You're right KOS, they switched the ending. It was like 2 different stories, both good, but unrelated. Obviously some anal retentive censor decided to conform to the Kosky spin and go with the "no-worries" ending. It would have been really cool if they used the idea from the end of the Simpsons Y2K episode when they blasted off into space to escape the chaos.

Ah-Ha - but they did at least manage to buy an I mac - the blueberry one I believe. Arene't they the ones that have always been Y2K OK? first time I've ever watched, but son was home and downstairs - a rarity at 16 that he will anything with Mom and Dad!!

-- Valkyrie (anon@please.xnet), December 19, 1999.

Yes, the Storyline was fragmentary to say the least, as well as the weak rationale for the entire "Tom Landry" scene. It seemed almost as tho a thrown together filler was utilized to round out the show. TPTB in the studio prtobably had a hand in the change...

The ending sucked of course, but I laughed my as off when he called the commissioner to ask where the propane delivery was... "What? What do you mean "temporarily noncompliant?" Sir, stop crying, act like a commissioner for God's sake" then sneaaks out the back with the last containers of propane...

"temporarily noncompliant"... wonder if we'll here that one after rollover :)

Yes KOS, it was pretty credible until their ending

Credible?? You mean like when Dale excitedly mentions that hoarders will be able to exercise "unreasonable power?" Or when he keeps a gerbil and hamster as food?? Or when he and the survivalist visit the humane society looking for a big tasty dog to eat? Or when Bobby gives away toilet paper as a Christmas present??

Do you realize what they were trying to say about GIs??

Can you say "disconnect?

At least the phones worked. :-) I like King of the Hill, I think it's HILLarious! I must admit though, that this particular episode was a bit ridiculous. I cringed when they set all that t.p. on fire!

Oh yeah - this was BEFORE CHRISTMAS. No wonder the phones were still working. Sorry, my bad.
