Do certain art pieces thrill you? Who is your favorite artist? Are you an artist?

(This is the forum question I asked after posting on my website the Halloween picture I drew for a card I emailed out to friends and family. See: http://members.xoom.com/fortyfiver/45sun.oct.31,99.htm)

I love art! I love to check out art books by the dozen from the library and save them for mornings. When I first wake up, I grab a cup of coffee and then thumb through them, not reading, just basking in the displayed-on-book-page pieces. I am usually too tired to read. But the art pieces usually start waking me up, thrilling me with all their glory.

Don't give me any crap about this either. You get your kicks your way. I get mine my way.

One of my favorite artists is Frida Kahlo. She's a Mexican artist who is way out there, kind of freaky. She lived an at-times tragic life and you can see it in her art. She put her blood and guts and suffering on a lot of her canvases. Her self-portraits are breathtaking. I like the fact that she didn't edit her self-portraits. She included her mono-brow as it was, as well as a slight mustache. This may be unappealing to some folks, but I found her honesty to make her even more beautiful.

Hey, you have your style of women, I have mine.

As for myself, I love to draw and paint. My problem is I have so many other things that interest and/or distract me, my type of art output is hindered. But look for more of my pieces to be posted on my website in the near future.

Rick, I waited and waited and nothing came up for Halloween card. Now Nik and I are really curious. Janie
