OT: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Please pardon me for asking a question that is most likely very basic to most of you here. It's just that I see it all the time and don't know what it stands for.

Gawd, I can just imagine the Jewel of the Desert, finding an oasis of water and mud but occupied by her nemesis, the evil Pearl of the Sahara. Perhaps it is a little squabble at first, over who's camel slobbered over who's. But then it quickly escalates, and both amazons go at it full force in the oasis, their sleek bodies oiled, their relentless furies exploding, the passions inflaming against the hot desert breeze that timelessly shifts the sands.

Cut the Crap!! Julie AND I want to know what it means. Will somebody come forward and be serious!

O= OFF T= TOPIC

It means that the topic is not related to Y2K

-- HERB (herb01@prodigy.net), December 19, 1999.

The King of Spain offers the finest off-topic posts on this forum, perhaps on ANY forum. Your Majesty, I continue to dry mud in my Ronco dehydrator and have several cases now, properly packed in mylar bags with oxy absorbers. Water for rehydration will be no problem--the local reservoir is within wrestling distance. I mean walkling distance.

Jimmy,

KOS actually stands for King of Satire - ususally applied to OT trolls. Also, please do not conjure INVAR. He has a great story about you, but I found it too disturbing.

Sincerely,

-- Uhhmm (JFCP81A@aol.com), December 19, 1999.

IT = Information Technology

Invar's story was too funny!

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, you ol' punk'in head,

Please do not invoke INVAR.

Sincerely,

-- Uhhmm... (JFCP81A@aol.com), December 19, 1999.

Julie,

Though undoubtedly trollish, I must congratualate you on what, upon further reflection, is a very funny thread. I am old, and so, slow to laugh. Thanks KOS, Andy, and all. Who is on first.

Amusedly,

-- Uhhmm... (JFCP81A@aol.com), December 19, 1999.

Uhhmm, Andy, O.G. and anyone else with a sense of humor:

As we near the final reckoning, let me say that it has been my royal pleasure to laugh WITH you, as the opportunities presented themselves, while we have grappled with the largely unknown issues surrounding Y2K. I pray that we will be able to continue to keep a sense of humor over the next few weeks.

Yours in the end times,

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), December 19, 1999.

Go KOS!

It always amazes me how fast you ask *THE* question! Also, you hardly ever ask twice, you must track the names you've responded to.

Oops, ended sentence with preposition. Never mind, stupid rule, I always liked Churchill's "This is the sort of language up with which I will not put".
