Fox News is having a short call-in about Y2k, by the time you read this it will probably be over.

First caller said Y2k is a scam and if her husband in the military wasnt on alert for the rollover she would be out partying. HELLO !! she doesnt get it at all.

When asked why she thought it was a scam she didnt know, didnt have an answer and didnt understand what y2k was about. Wow, if this isnt the text-book definition of DGI, I dont know what is.

Two other callers basically repeated the bank statement, not going to take money out of the bank because alot of robberies will likely happen, the other blew it off as time to "get funky" with his girlfriend.

Ooops, segment just ended. Gee, I learned so much....

I was leaving FOX on for background and they said coming up we will take calls on Y2k. I dropped what I was doing and started to type the message, they took exactly 3 calls. The first knocked me out of my chair. The lady was so convinced of her feelings which was based on nothing more than OTHER people telling her it was a scam. The other calls lasted less than 30 seconds each. They moved on to another subject and that was it.

Its was just 2 "anchors" answering the calls, no experts and was so flip that it was worthless.

The 'Fox call-in' was similar to what I've come across in my dealings with the press.... Most reporters have not a clue to what Y2k is all about and therefor not only can not ask questions with any bit of intelligence, but can not speak about the problem.

As I've mentioned in previous posts, not one reporter I spoke with in interviews (they were interviewing me) even heard of the 50 day report, let alone know it's contents. To them it is a two to three day story commencing with the rollover, then continuing for a couple of days until everything is back to normal by the following week.

They have NO CLUE!

The complete news media is mysteriously quiet concerning the real issues concerning Y2K. The only take I can find in any of the media is on the positive side. It is no big deal, leave your assets in the bank and in your investments. Treat it as a winter storm. Everyting I have seen is done with a "tongue in Cheek," attitude as if it were some kind of joke. I am very curious as to how the news media will react as soon as Christmas, and Christmas sales are over.
