how to sell gold?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Funny that one of the gifts the Magi gave the Child was gold...befitting a king. Now our wise men would hand out condoms, crystals and ss cards...

anyway, can anyone post a link to a place, or give brief answer, to who buys gold and how one sells it? I figure of course you can always sell it to an individual, based on the daily price, but I was more interested in dealers, brokers, etc. Who buys gold?

Of course this question assumes I won't be needing the gold I have and would like to transfer it back into cash (with the assumption that banks and the whole system will be running (or at least crawling) smooth enough in the upcoming year.

thanks, a fellow gold-digger....(the treasure is the Child)

www.ajpm.com is a good place to buy and sell. You can also auction on Yahoo for free, or on E-bay for a small fee. E-mail if you have questions about auctioning. Tom

I deal with Resource Consultants (800-494-4149) - ask for Pat. I found them to have the lowest prices around (and to pay the most because they take a smaller cut than other dealers.) They do not have a web site, however.

Some on-line dealers:

How to sell (and buy) depends on whether it's Y2K 1-4, 4-7, 7-10. If there is still a web, besides your local dealer, and the dealers mentioned above there is http://www.e-gold.com (where you can trade if for a check in various currencies, or silver, platinum, palladium, or combination).

That is, if it's a Y2K 1-4, you will still be able to go through dealers, at least until it is outlawed or confiscated by government again.
If it's a 4-7, there may still be established local dealers, if in a large enough community, until it is outlawed or confiscated by government again.
If it's a 7-10, it's barter time, and if there is still government to enforce an outlawing of it, the barter will be black (free) market.
