The link (http://www.msnbc.com/local/WRC/385319.asp) is no longer valid.

Here's the summary from y2knews.com:

WASHINGTON, D.C. Metro wont be taking any chances when the year 2000 rolls around. Metro trains will stop at platforms at 11:55 p.m. on New Years Eve and open their doors.

[end]

Can't find the story elsewhere yet (I checked the Washington Times, so I'm not sure how long they'll stay stopped.

According to AM 1500, DeeCee Metro-rail will only be stopped for about 10 minutes (just the rollover). The trains will be running until 3:00 AM Jan 1st, rather than than 1:00 AM.

This assumes there will be electricity after the rollover.
