Phoenix Will Have A Detective At Each Fire Station During Weekend

Radio newsbroadcast this afternoon -- the normal -- all police and fire will be on duty during the century change weekend, nothing new there. But representative of the city did admit we have a bunker (which is pretty much a first for stating for this city) and that each fire station will be manned w/a dectetive from the police department.

The main festitivities for the Eve celebration in downtown have sold 7500 tickets to date. At this point, they were expecting to have sold 75,000.

Went to Albertson's this AM and was stocking on fresh vegetables. Looked at the asparagus and was shocked to find the sticker price of $9.99 per lb. For those that don't do a lot of cooking, in order to feed a family of 4 this precious vegetable, it will take approx 3 lbs which equates to $30 for a side dish. Don't quite understand, as the West Coast in general had an incredibly long growing season this year w/the warm weather. There's still plenty w/gardens producing. Should be interesting to watch prices of other food items in the next couple of weeks.

Claurann, Wow! I'm located in southern California, and asparagus here is about $2.99 a pound.

Here in Michigan aparagus country, it's 59-79 cents a pound every spring. At least every spring so *far*.
