OT/ Why not platinium as well as Gold and Silver?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

With many stocking up on gold & silver just incase y2k is bad. Why not physical platinium? Considering that Russia is the worlds second largest producer of platinium and considering how far behind they are in preparing for y2k, why would'nt platinium be a good investment? Can someone steer me to any online links that discuss this market? Thanks

Gold is real money, and platinum is primarily an industrial metal. How do you feel about the industrial outlook next year? Platinum will probably rise, but why bother?

Wow! My attempt at posting several links really got garbled. I'll try again. (Will someone please tell me how to make those pretty blue links you can click on directly - I think someone called them "hotlinks"?)

Gold and silver have been used as money in the form of coins for thousands of years; platinum has not. It's gold and silver coins you should be stocking up on, not gold and silver in some other form.

As long as I have been following the commodities I noticed that platinum has smaller fluctuations in prices. Anyway, I equally split my holdings between platinum and gold (Eagles) and so far I gained as much on platinum as I lost on gold, which I purchased when it was 320 per oz.
