The Disney movie "So Dear to My Heart" is a good family movie and it shows just how poor old granny had to live. She spins her wool, weaves her own cloth and sews her 'qivers'. The inside of the house is amazing for it's accuracy from stocked shelves of canning jars to the pull ladder to the loft. I have watched this movie many times (grandchildren love it) and recommend it for the feel of life like it may be again and the run away sheep scene is a side splitter!

Carol...wouldn't it be wonderful if that were the worst that would happen? I could live that way...have pretty much lived that way at one time or another. True its work, but not the stress we live under today. Be nice to turn your kids loose and not worry about them, wouldn't it? I tell my husband that when I see children playing stick ball in the middle of the street, then I will know all is well.

Hey book and movie lovers, Hi Taz, hi Carol. Next time you're in a book store look for Material World. It is a photo book of families around the world. Helps me with perspective and always gives me that "Quit whining, you glutton" feeling. Especially interesting is the Kosovar family. They are living like refugees in their own home, the father a retired neurosurgeon. Happy Christmas!
