what shelters?

I am from Pennsylvania. I recently went to my local shelter to find it has no heat. This site is a designated emerg shelter. I tried through local channels/government to try to correct the situation. Bottom line no agency wants to spend the money;they all feel it is someone else's responsibility.I tried the ice storm senario also talked about the possible geomagnetic flux(solar storms)and a little y2k.

So don't necessarily count on you local shelter to be up and functional!

Local channels/government? Those YO-Yos can barely get the trash picked up. Something this big, I wouldn't count on anybody for anything. After a few days of them playing the hero, it will be everyman for himself.

In Cleveland, (And I'll make this a separate thread too) we have 125 shelter contracts (Am Red Cross). There are only 6 with generating capacity for heat.

There are also about 1.25 million people in the Greater Cleve area (600 thou in the city plus the suburbs. The SMSA has about 2.1 mil, but that includes a surrounding county or two).

The planned announcement will be "Shelter in place."

None of our shelters have heat either - but imagine all those bodies packed in there! Its also about lots of clothes, blankets and sleeping bags! That's why personal preps are so important so you don't have to go there!
