Think TPTB Will Open Up their $50Mil Y2K 'Bunker'??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I'd (almost be) willing to go 'polly' JUST AS SOON AS the $40-$50 million Clinton/Koskinen Y2K 'bunker' is opened up for "DAY 1" (Dec.28-Jan?) continuous & unrestricted coverage on CSPAN. Wouldn't that be a HOOT? Wanna take bets that it will happen? If there really is nothing much to worry about, why not???

Truth is TPTB really don't want us to know what happens--and they're already doing an advance cover-up with all the "normal reliability" statistics. The media isn't welcome in 'their' y2k bunker. But we'll get many official statements of reassurance that all is well--all those BITRs are NOT Y2K related at all. Sadly, many/most will believe it to be true.

Some governments have been more straightforward by stating that "the little people of Russia don't need to know" and the Indonesian govt's absolute refusal to let the people know anything... The "first-world" govt's have taken the (almost total) smokescreen approach instead.

Let's all hope that things go very well in the coming weeks--this is one 'doomer' (is there no middle ground????) that honestly wants things to go well...but is realistic enough to see the VAST GULF BETWEEN WHAT IS SAID AND WHAT IS BEING DONE. Too many have forgotten that early lesson of "actions speaking louder than words."

Sceptic,

They can run for awhile, but they can't hide. Y2K will unfold and reveal its ugly self, all in good time.

Sceptic -

It's about impossible to read every post on this site, but I was going through the list of the earlier threads I missed(I've missed a lot of them), and this one caught my eye. The funny thing is I had posted earlier today to Mystery Man's thread and I put in the same thing about actions speaking louder than words. It's obvious that great minds think alike. But that is THE one compelling thing to me: what they Do versus what they Say.

A caller on the Art Bell show suggested that once TPTB get in the bunkers, that we don't let them out. Art and caller bantered and possibilities include big locks or buncha rocks, concrete and steel.

I have already lived through Y2k in the "bunker". Remember? There was one little 'x' up on the big screen TV in the Pacific Ocean when that plane fell out of the sky, one litte 'x' in China when they lost power, and that was basically it, as I recall. Or was that when I jumped on the Apache? My memory fails me...

I think I might have been exposed to some radiation. My wife doesn't want to come near me these days...

Lonely in Seattle...
