O'REILY of the FACTOR TV show DGI - PAT BOONE is a GI

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

At the end of the Factor tv show, the host, O'Reily has a segment called the most ridiculous thing of the day. Tonight he reported that Pat Boone has converted all his holdings into cash and is hoarding food and water. Isn't that a tad ridiculous.

So Pat Boone is a GI big time and Mr. O'Riely is a DGI.

Then on The Edge Ed Yourdi was in the Y2K segment. He said that even if most banks finish their remediations bad data from places that didn't finish could cause weeks or months of problems.

In our local newspaper one line stood out " The owerns of the banks and corporations would lose too much money for them to let Y2K happen so I'm not worried." Makes you feel all safe and snuggly.

Mr. Pinochle,

You mean Ed Yardeni, not Ed Yourdi, I presume. Sounds a lot like Yourdon too. No, he didn't sound real optomistic, did he.......

The thing about Pat Boone was on Regis and Kathie Lee - didn't get the channel changed fast enough and heard Y2k mentioned so had to stop and listen. Regis said something to the effect that "My God - it's just another day - what is the big deal?" to which KL replied that Pat Boone was scared to death of it and had withdrawn all his funds from the market and was "holed up" somewhere for the new year.

I don't if y'all recall, but Pat was the voice over for PSA's about Y2K last year.

I'm all behind Mr. Boone on this one. Maybe Pat should offer a TV counter-programming alternative to Regis' Millionaire show... "So, you wanna be Amish" would be catchy, dontcha think?

Is this the same guy who went heavy metal a couple of years ago, scaring our children and damaging our ear drums? Can we really trust him? Or is this some new kind of bizarre marketing scheme?

Mr. Nugget,

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe what he did was to sing some heavy metal lyrics in the style of music he normally sings. I don't think Pat was actually banging his head. The leather was just PR for the new album.

My apology to Mr. Yardeni. thank you for correcting me.

I confess, I look at the gossip rags. In the most recent edition of Star magazine on the back page the title "What will they be doing on New Years?" Don Johnson and his wife were mentioned and they were going to be on an island he bought near Vietnam that was made Y2K proof for him.

Now Don Johnson is married to who?
