"People should remember it is a supply system, not a supply chain," Grayson said"

Now that's a geniunely interesting point. Supply chains DO have some slack, things CAN be bumped up them. And that's why post rollover failures will take some time to become apparent.

Would you want to be a diabetic on insulin with no extra supplies come 1/1? It is not a pleasant prospect.

"She believes industry assurances that they are ready for Y2K and she's not taking any significant steps to stock up on the drugs they take every day. . . . "We'll have a two-month supply of those on hand,' she said of the mail-order drugs."

Believes industry assurances--has two month supply of crisis drugs. Okay.

Not mentioned: 80% of all pharmaceutical ingredients and 70% of all pharmaceutical products are produced overseas.

Not mentioned: the numbers of people like me who have obtained life-sustaining drugs from Mexico (thanks again to the forumite who acquired them for me) at the same cost as my insurance co-payment and who have purchased vet antibiotics.

I now have about a nine-month supply of crucial drugs. Yes, I consider it stockpiling. Anyone who criticizes my actions either doesn't rely on daily medication to live or has an undeveloped sense of consequence.
