I'd like to know anyone's thoughts about when they think it will be time to get on the road....bank runs?....emptying stores?....electricity off?....gas at $10?....Jan.1st.?, or earlier?....curfew?....???????

I guess I'll be getting to my safe place (under my bed) when the "air raid" sirens for Surry I&II go off. Unless I'm desolved first by hazmat. And you?

Queen o' hearts,

Don't you think that it'll be a little too late to leave if you wait for those kinds of signals? IMO, if you're waiting for signals like those, you've waited too long.

Hubby had another 'interesting' conversation with his Mom and stepfather last night along this same vein. They 'claim' to GI, probably won't ever GI...their prep plans consist solely of having their motorhome gassed and ready to go 150 miles south to the Ozarks and 'camp' on MIL's brother's place (which *is* remote, and fully provisioned).... they have not bothered to make even the minimal preps for themselves in the event they will not be able to get there. Won't even stock the motorhome with anything, because MIL feels her brother has everything 'taken care of'. Anyone familiar with holiday and weekend travel to the Ozarks from KC will tell you that traffic going south to the Ozarks under 'normal' conditions is insane - traffic is *very* slow. Hubby suggested they take the motorhome down there now and park it, and if the need arises, they can use their van and go the back way, or take it down now/in a week or so and have an extended holiday, but of course, that would be 'imposing' and they wouldn't hear of it....sheesh! Like just showing up unprovisioned *isn't* imposing (shaking my head...) I am concerned that if there is a rush out of the cities, and travel is as congested as it was during Hurricane Floyd, many of those in motorhomes will be targets. Oh, well...what do 'we' know?

Usually about 3:00. Seven hours is about the max I'll slave on any given day. Sometimes I head for my safe haven at noon, sometimes I just don't have anything to do so I hang around here and fix things up.

Love it up in the woods. However, my wife wants to spend Christmas Eve with her Mother in Oakland, CA. Can't hardly bare the thought. Never liked Oakland. Don't like the Bay Area. Used to be nice there but to goofy any more!
