Why are the Republicans in Washington just Tweedle-dum to the Democrats Tweedle-dee?

Because of politicians like Tom Huff, Republican(?) from Gig Harbor, who have so much fun being part of the legislative aristocracy that they have long since ceased to represent those in their districts. From CNN news:

Never has David so enjoyed doing battle with Goliath. Eyman, who turns age 34 this month and describes himself as "an independent Republican, with a little Ralph Nader thrown in," has become a major player in state politics, though he's never served a day in public office and swears he'll never get the bug. To fans of the initiative process, which is popular throughout the West, this high-octane outsider is a genuine folk hero, possessed of a glib tongue and marketer's skill at spinning a clear, compelling, simple message. To foes, he's dangerous, stirring up angst when times are prosperous, without regard for potential damage to highways, transit, police, fire, ferries and other state and local programs. "He obviously is replacing all the city councils and county councils and the state Legislature," says House Appropriations Co-Chairman Tom Huff, R-Gig Harbor. "It sounds like he's a one-man rule."

If bdick is out there, what do YOU think of Mr. Huff???

You know it's kind of interesting to peruse legislators voting records. Mr. Huff doesn't appear to ever vote "no" on anything. If he doesn't like it, he just doesn't vote ("excused" is the euphemism). Apparently he has never seen a government proposal he feels strongly against, although he was an early and vocal opponent of I-695 and, notwithstanding 695 carrying his district, continues to WHINE about it.

Hooray for Washington State Citizens: Even though I don't live there, (live in Texas), I relate to the citizen and taxpayer frustration that boiled over into the past election! The legislature (Washington State, that is), has proven time and time again that they are not responsive to the will of the masses. As far as the legislature not being needed, that is nonsense! Of course the legislature is, and will always, be needed. From now on they will have to be even more careful, accountable, and representative to the citizens; rather falling into another get-along to go-along good ol'boy/gal club. All ya Washington State citizens please enjoy and take responsibly the new found freedom and responsibilities enacted by I-695.

Response to Why are the Republicans in Washington just Tweedle-dum to the Democrat?s Tweedle-dee?

I always chortle when I see comments like this. . .as if he should've done it when times are tough. The best time for something like I-695 is when times are good.

"He obviously is replacing all the city councils and county councils and the state Legislature," says House Appropriations Co-Chairman Tom Huff, R-Gig Harbor. "It sounds like he's a one-man rule." "

Obviously. . .I guess if Huff feels replaced he can just follow Ruth Fisher's lead and resign. Oops, my mistake.

Sorry, a me-too post seemed like the best way to get back into the thick of things.
