I'm not trying to troll here, but I've been pondering.I've watched the board lately become more antagonistic and flighty as of late. There's been quite a bit of off-topic (contrails, UFO's, etc...) that isn't related to Y2K. I'm concerned that the apprehension and anxiety we ALL feel is becoming a compulsion, an obsession. The fear, anger and spitefulness are indications of emotions at a fevered pitch. I believe it's time to let those feelings go. There is nothing more we can do, and we cannot change the future. It's time to control the anxiety and accept what we cannot change. Remeber St. Francis of Assisi's prayer and use it, I think it will be a very useful tool in the near future.
If Y2K is a BITR, then it's time to re-evaluate how we evaluate how we gather and rationalize information, and be thankful for the lessons learned. If Y2K is TEOWAWKI, then even the best-prepped person will be in some danger at some time or another, and no amount of prepping will save them. There is really nothing else that can be done at this point, all we can do is wait, and work to fix the glitches that do occur when they occur.
Let's deal with facts, and work together on this. We WILL get through Y2K, we've gotten through other disasters and wars, we'll do the same again.

Well said, and oh so true. I've noticed a bit of frantic-ness of late meself. It doesn't seem to affect me too much. I'm well prepped, well informed, and confident of the future.And, oh yeah, utterly mad.

Deb:I agree. Then tension in this forum is rising everyday. Even I am beginning to be a little on edge. The most upsetting thing about all of this is, this is supposed to be time of celebrating with family and friends and I am in no mood to "party".
But, I do agree with you. We should get back to gathering facts and helping each other get ready for an event that could possibly change the very way we live.

Deb,I've been on the board for eight months or more and it was always this way. Periodically someone will say that it has become chaotic, quarrelsome, etc, but truly it always has been. People here are pretty sensible and strong, but I don't think anyone knows how we will react when push really comes to shove. I feel each of us has to allow for an honesty of reaction, whatever that might be, and not predetermine too much how she/he will handle something.

Nicely said Deb....here's something I'm thinking....IF it's a BITR and things don't go to hell....How about Teaching and Using some of the things we've learned to those who will listen...Sort of blend the 'Back To Basics' into life so that these hings won't be lost any more than they already have been? Will always be useful and since wo don't know the future from day-to-day...

All,Hello again and thanks! I've been sitting back and evaluating my own actions/emotions and saw some of what I've experienced repeated on the board. For my own good, I have had to learn to accept that I can't do anything more about Y2K until something happens. I was hoping that sharing that experience would help others, perhaps in some small way. I didn't want to pontifcate (sp?) and hope that I conveyed the message right.
Santana's right about us never knowing about the future though. Y2K is scary, but if you keep it in a "local" perspective, I think that it's not insurmountable. I think that this will be the key to success over Y2K - everyone working to get their local problems solved, with a little ingenuity added to the mix... We CAN do this.

Thanks! That's an excellent idea. Not only passing along information, but also ideals as well. Perhaps "throw-away" consumerism could become a thing of the past. I guess it'll be time to start voting with our checkbooks, changing our buying and living habits to match our beliefs.
I think it would be a terrible tragedy on our part to NOT pass along the information we have been blessed to find. To do otherwise would be a discredit to those who thought well enough to hand it down to us.
We CAN do this.
