This morning on Houston CBS affiliate KHOU Channel 11 reported that the Houston 911 system failed during the y2k test. The screens went blank. A full 18 days to remediate, repair and test, no problem. Houston area population is 3+ million.

It's been all over the news this weekend in Houston that the Fire Department failed its Y2K testing. They would have been unable to dispatch trucks to the needed locations. They are (finally) working on real contingency plans which seem to be going well.

Also, Channel 13 (KTRK) picked up the report from CNN about water problems, and recommended that everyone have one gallon of water per day, per person for at least 10 days. No one seems to be listening!
