Bought several dozen organic eggs. No idea if they've been washed.Any reason I can't store them using Kpeg? Thanks Sue

no problem at all sue, just make sure they are fresh, if your not sure you can float them in water, fresh eggs won't float. Kpeg wno't hurt you or the eggs at all

Floating eggs won't tell you if they are fresh, it will tell you if they are still good! Eggs that don't float are bad, eggs properly stored for 6 months will still float. I read once that commercial eggs could be stored, (USDA) legally for up to a year and still be sold. Even as good as modern transportation & distribution is, there are stores somewhere that get their "fresh eggs" 3-5 days old.

Fresh eggs do not float. After about 5 to 7 days they stand on end in the water but still touch the bottom of the bucket. If they float any higher I consider them animal food. I use this test for eggs that I find hidden out of the nest boxes. I once found a forgotten egg in a coat pocket after at least 3 months and when I broke it (outside of course) it looked fine and had no off odor.

So, do "good" eggs float or stay on the bottom? Thanks!

"Good" eggs don't float. They might raise one end up in the water but they should stay at the bottom of a pan full of water if I am going to eat them.
