For Sale: 2 Super Bowl Tickets

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I don't really have SB Tix, but if I did I wouldn't try to sell them here. I'd just email Flint and Hoffmiser. I might arrange a conference call amongst the three of us and try to sell one ticket to each of them, so they can sit side by side at the 50 yard line and watch DGIs being herded in and out. They might get lucky and have the ghost of John Elway visit them, but that will be about all the football related activity going in Atlanta in January.

Atlanta knows it too, I'm sure.

How ironic that the SB is scheduled to be held in the city that fired its Y2k coordinator for trying to warn the public of what lies ahead?

And how about the football irony? Look at pathetic, beat up fools like Dan Marino putting all their hopes and dreams into, "one last shot" an event that will never be. Wow. I still think Elway retired without taking a shot at the threepeat because he Gets It.

And how about Bill Parcells going out in a blaze of mediocrity, hehe?

How about dem Raiders going out in their tenth-plus consecutive blaze of mediocrity?

How about the Pack coming Back just in time to get stuck in the Frozen Tundra forever?

Actually, they might be able to play the game in a sand lot somewhere just to conclude their mission. It wouldn't surprise me that by the end of January there will be just enough infrastructure remaining somewhere to reschedule the game for an audience of 100. It reminds me of when John Kennedy was assasinated and every business in the US shut down except for the NFL. Tenacious fools die hard.

Doomer Predictions - You Gotta Love 'Em

Paul, if you find any cheap tix to the big game, let me know before Flint and Hoff. Note: I'm on the 'doomer' side of the scale, but if anything's up and running after 1/1/2000, it will be the NFL.

I'm a fan. A really big fan. One of my first concerns about Y2K a few years back was NFL scheduling software. I've got my preps done - food, water, alternate heat, alternate power, blah blah blah. So if that all goes away, I will survive. TEOTWAWKI to me is no broadcast NFL games on Sunday or Monday. February to July (end of season to beginning of training camp) is as close to TEOTWAWKI as I care to get.

BTW, IIRC, Rozelle said in his later years that not postponing NFL games the week Kennedy was shot was one of the things he really regretted in his tenure as NFL commi
