...yes, and sydney, tokyo and beijing. Can someone do a html job on that table from the point of view of us poor saps in yurope

If embedded system clocks are pegged to GMT one wouldn't expect the show to start until 7PM EST 12/31/99.

Darn... I've got to start thinking globally! I'll do a Europizing job on the table when I get home tonight (Pacific Time) and post it. Sorry to leave out 4/5 of the rest of the world.

I'll be boycotting the internet and phone lines in general on the 31st/1st. I'll just listen to the radio when I wake up on the 1st. Not my favorite method of news-gathering, but it'll keep me from being one of the people crowding up the system.

Duh Guy,

Add SIX hours to Eastern time and you have MEZ (MittelEuropaeische Zeit). (pencil it in!)

You can get a great shareware desktop globe with lots of info from:

http://www.djuga.net/winglobe/download.html

even shows the day/nightline, local times, population etc.

Beautiful job.

Many programs and embedded chips are set to Greenwich Mean Time (Now called Universal Time Coordinated) So those in time zones east of Greenwich may not show failure until midnight in Greenwich. Those in zones west of G. may show failures earlier than expected. The Red Cross here is expecting to have 17 hrs. of lead time to prepare shelters if things go really haywire in the countries to hit 2000 first. But their actual lead time may only be 6 hours, as we are in time zone 6. Or, if many things here co-ordinated to Greenwich time, it could happen that midnight in Greenwich will bring the max problems alll over the globe in one moment! What do you think?

East coast is five hours behind Great Britain.
