Sequel to the Florida Journalist

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Sorry to repost, but I wanted to bring it back up. There was a post below about a Florida journalist who wanted to know about preparation late in the season. As expected from the tone of the article posted, he got a little toasted. I just got off the phone after 30 minutes of a DGI-to-GI conversion. I will not be surprised if he shows up to the forum a little humbled. If so, I urge you to help him the rest of the way. I know it's late, but the world may need good investigative reporters next year as well.

Best regards...

At this late date he had better spend his time writing lists and getting his butt to WalMart and Sam's Club. Right now he doesn't need to investigate anything....just get he and his family prepared as well as he can. If he is not prepared he will be standing in the soup lines next year rather than sitting in front of his word processor.

I answered him personally and pretty honestly. I don't think I sound like a nut--although some people think so.

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes ....

Thank you for taking the effort and time to talk to him.

I am an older person with a Master's level education and working long hours trying to see the day I can retire. However, I have been preparing for 1 1/2 years based solely on the disconnect present between reports coming out of Bennett and Horns hearings and subsequent reports and those of banking, business, government agencies, state and local pronouncements of y2k ok! The truth is extremely hard to reach and it takes a blind act of faith no matter which pronouncement of truth I accept. The risk is too high to trust that nothing negative will happen. The protection my supplies and thoughtfulness afford me are a tangable, concrete pledge from myself to me and mine. I don't see anyone, agency or organization that is this committed to me and my family. In short, it is MY RESPONCIBILITY, I accept it. How about you?
