OT: THE END OF THE WORLD as a CRISIS in CONSCIOUSNESS

If you are interested in a Jungian analysis of the millennial situation, try this link (it does mention Y2K). All non-Jungians, please ignore!

A design flaw that will become active on January 1, 2000 is sending shudders through the world with fears that range from technological failures to complete social catastrophe. Even now, groups are organizing their lives to escape the calamity that will befall us.

This guy needs his head shrunk. Yes, Y2K demonstrates very clearly a crisis in consciousness--i.e., individual mental flexibility versus a life-denying rigidity. Consciousness per se means being in tune with what is more or less (there are degrees) objectively real. I think what we have witnessed has been a general contraction away from what IS. This denial of simple, functional reality has been general and nearly complete on the part of this society. This alone can be taken as a measure of our world's viability or lack thereof. When an organism can no longer react appropriately to its environment, it's a goner. Too much intellectual blah blah blah in the face of crisis is truly not helpful and dismally inapt. Thus I characterize this analysis. Jungian imagery and approach should bring us closer to who and what we are, not further away.
