Looking For A Place To Hide: Until we get the message across that things don't kill people-people kill people, we will hear this same eggheaded message. What happen's after guns? Knives? Cars? etc etc. The UN has never been able to perform its primary function of keeping the peace so it now gets involved in those areas where it has abetter chance of success. Then they will be able to say "Look how great we are by doing away with thus and so!"

What the gun-goofs never like to see are statistics. Here's one...

In 1996, handguns were used to murder 2 people in New Zealand, 15 in Japan, 30 in Great Britain, 106 in Canada, 213 in Germany and 9,390 in the United States.

This isn't new. It's been going on the term of the present administration...the President can't get radical gun control (read confiscation) laws passed...so goes around the corner to get them passed in the U.N.

Worse yet, every loonie who goes on a shooting spree just plays right into their hands...

Do note that hunting was not a valid reason (according to the UN statement) to own a firearm...nor was self defense!

nottelling,

What gun-control freaks never like to see is statistics:

250,000,000 guns in the US divided by 50 people killed per day (this INCLUDES shooting by cop, suicide, etc.) equals 1 out of every 5,000,000 guns used to kill someone. A total of 244,999,950 guns will kill NO ONE today.

100,000,000 cars in the US divided by 100+ people killed per day equals at least 1 out of every 1,000,000 cars causes a death per day.

Any given car is FIVE TIMES more likely to take a life today than any of the guns I own.

I urge you to go down to your local police station right now and turn in your car keys before someone gets hurt. Those things are dangerous and can't be trusted to anyone other than 'professional' drivers. I don't want my children placed at risk just because 'car nuts' are all too lazy to walk to work...

We will not have honest leadership or laws until those who write the laws are forced to live under them. When our lawmakers no longer have men in black suits (with guns) protecting them, they will most likely have a different opinion.

Based on data from The American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study II, 430,700 U.S. deaths (PER YEAR) were attributable to smoking during 1990-1994. And smoking related deaths continue to rise.

Also look on the bright side. I don't think we have to worry about New Zealand,Japan,Great Britian,Canada,or Germany getting any ideas about messing with the U.S. Hell if we didn't shoot em down, we could just blow smoke up their ass.

Look at the "success" of the gun confiscation in Australia. crime UP by a 5X factor.

Look at the stats from Switzerland where EVERY HOUSE with a citizen in it has (OH GOD HELP THEM) an ASSAULT RIFLE in the closet and (HORRORS) the kids are ACTUALLY ENCOURAGED to USE IT!!

FEH!!

"UN coming for your guns"? Hardly. They controversially suggest that "All small arms and light weapons which are not under legal civilian possession and which are not required for the purposes of national defense and internal security, should be collected and destroyed by States as expeditiously as possible." So if your weapon is held legally they don't have a problem with it. And in any case the UN does not have gun collectors. There will not be men in blue helmets, white buses or black helicopters going around confiscating weapons. They do not have the manpower. They do not have any manpower of their own, come to think of it. The UN is a debating arena / talking-shop, nothing more.

All gun grabbers have an agenda--plain & simple! THEY WANT ALL THE GUNS AND AMMO--PERIOD!!! Don't try to argue facts, logic, US Constitution & Bill of Rights etc. with them--their eyes will glaze over--they consider our Constitution to be a doormat.

A reasonable question is WHY? It's doubtful that they're trying to look out for us...much more likely yet another form of totalitarian control--that really is the ultimate UN goal--control over EVERYTHING. Conspiracy? Not at all--it's their AGENDA.

THANK YOU, TECH32!

Also Rob, Do you know of a place called California? They instituted registration of certain types of guns there. The people were promised that the registration would never lead to confiscation. The right after the deadline passes for registration, what does the Calif. gubmint do?

They declared illegal all of the previously legally owned guns, and demanded that they be turned in. I heard on the news that fewer than 20% had turned them in though.

You want to know how you purge a society of a whole class of people like Stalin and Mao?? You make so many things illegal that everyone is at risk of being arrested!

Let me make this point clear to everyone reading this. I own guns now which are perfectly legal. If they are declared illegal, that is an ex post facto law and a violation of Section 9, Article 3 of the US Constitution, which states: "No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed." I will not ever sell, give away, or surrender them. I will not allow it.

Tell that to Iraq and Bosnia...
