Want an unscientific way to gauge general concern? Go to ebay (www.ebay.com for those that have never been there) and put "generac" in the search field. Keep track of the prices.

So far, I haven't noticed them budging. Actually a bit cheaper right now than a couple of days ago.

Generators on eBay seem to go for more than retail.

One exception is a guy who keeps listing used Koehler 12KW marine generators. Beautiful machines, can be set up to heat your house with the coolant (if you've got hot water baseboard heaters), and seem to go for a tad over $2000 each. If I had the money, I'd get one.

I've been watching the eBay prices since I started looking for a genny back in February. Prices aren't much different now on eBay. At Costco (CA) the Generac 5000/6250 was $549.95 in Feb and $599.95 now. I finally settled on the higher quality Generac 4000XL ($739.95).
