what about traveling home for the Christmas Holiday??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

We have family that live around 900 miles from where we are now. Thing is they want us to come home for the holidays but with all the talk about martial Law and all I am afraid to have a whole family traveling. Could there be a chance we would be isolated from our place of residence??? Is anyone else leary of traveling very far this Christmas season????

We normally go to my parents home for Christmas. We told them last year that this Christmas we would stay at our home. Christmas is too close for comfort for us to be 400 miles from our "stash", just in case. They understand, but still won't get out of Chicago. THAT worries me. Best of luck.

I'm worried about the three-hour drive, but plan to go anyway. This may be the last time I see my family for a long time, or (gulp) forever.

My husband and I will be traveling (driving) about 5 hours but only for Christmas. I plan to return soon afterward. I guess I'll have to hope they don't declare anything until closer to Dec. 31. I can't avoid traveling. My father has cancer and I want to be there for the holiday. If things get bad, I may not see them for a while after that. If things get really bad = ??. He'll be about 5 months post-bone marrow transplant on 12/31. But even a BITR may not bode well for the immunocompromised.

Planning on seing the whole family in Central NY for Christmas, after topping off the supplies at Sitre B on the way. will be back before the 28th. Don't see a problem. re-inserting head in sand.

Going to the folks', 200 miles away, Xmas Day afternoon, staying just overnight and home again the eve of the 26th. Don't plan to be going anywhere lengthy after the 27th.

I'm not going anywhere after Christmas unless it is a matter of life and death. I don't know what is going to happen, but I wouldn't be at all surprised at travel restrictions and/or fuel shortages.

Add me to the list of concerned. I am flying from Providence to Phoenix for Christmas and returning on the 28th. I had planned to not make the trip, but then I had a polly moment and I bought the ticket.

I have to believe that all will be well at least until I get home.
