Runaway CN ore train

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

Although certainly not specific to 'our' roads, the recorded radio transmissions between a dispatcher and the engineer on a brakeless (no air) Canadian National ore train (referred to by Ed King in a recent TRAINS mag article) can be accessed at the 'Railspot' web site by those with realplayer audio capability. Quite a gripping account of a harrowing incident that points out the hazzards that can be found in the industry.

The Runaway can also be accessed at the Cyberspace World Railroad website. It also includes pictures, newspaper articles and reports on the accident. "http://www.mcs.net/~dsdawdy/cyberoad.html" If you scroll down the page, you should see the link titled, "Runaway".
