Billy, Ricky, Maddy try to outsmart Saddy for Y2K and the economy

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Well, crude fell on some really bizzare stats from the API yesterday and some technical selling. Gasoline built 8 million or 5.3 million depending on weather you believe API or DOE. I tend to believe the DOE a little more. This is a decidedly large build in gasoline. The industry buzz is now that traders misjudged the Y2K panic factor and are long product. I disagree, I think suppliers are long product and will stay long until the panic hits, however there is a risk that oil execs will look at this slack demand and start to think harder about lifo. That will be bad for you because they will go back to thin inventories just when they need them. On the crude side, I believe that crazy fun loving Sadman Whosane? is planning another little media surprise for the dummies in our State Department. I saw that the Russians and Chinese have now teamed up to turn down an oil for food extension. Hope billy and maddy understand that this is bad joss for US. Sadman has them firmly on his team re: oil. I believe this is why the market went from -60 cents today to up 27 cts (approx) by the close. There was also a little article that said that the US now sees moderate risk of supply interruption from Russia, Iran and CHina plus a few bit players. This was a first. ALso, the IEA stated that it would be willing to let countries slide on their current requirement to hold 90 days of inventories. This good reader is the equivalent of a Fed pep talk for the crude markets. Billy Richardson has been trying to talk this thing down to absolutely no avail. Market is going higher still. Keep prepping.

Below are some recent articles on Y2K by the WSJournal. The coverage is to say the least blatantly biased. I think it clearly demonstrates the campaign which is under way to snow the public on Y2K. Check out USA Today cover this morning. Three of the four failures listed were created by new Y2K compliant sytems installations and yet USA today portrays them as "ordinary run of the mill computer problems".

The most blatant deception from the WSJ articles below is the article which identifies chat rooms (the only place left these days to find ANY objective thinking on Y2K) as dangerous due to the new Bablyonia Virus.

It's simply unconscionable that the Journal would run a story like this clearly designed to discourage readers from accessing important information that could save their lives. I am posting a response from one of the best known virus busters on the web which clearly identifies the virus and it's actions. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with internet chat rooms. I'm canceling my well street journal subscription.

For Educational Information and Research Only: December 7, 1999 Yes, It's Raining Y2K, but Here's The Forecast for New Year's Day

By STAN SESSER Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL MY PREDICTION is that Y2K is going to be a big bust. Almost nothing is going to happen. Reporters will flock to India to visit a couple of cities that have no electricity, mentioning in the 19th paragraph that these cities were also prone to blackouts in the previous century. Rented media planes will circle the airport in Ulan Bator, waiting for the control-tower radar to come back on. And that's about it.

Y2K A-OK: The mutual-fund industry has placed an extremely high priority on preparing for Y2K over the past five years and now is "well prepared" for the arrival of the Year 2000, a major trade group said.

December 7, 1999 High-Tech Chief Executives Plan to Be at Work for Y2K By MARTHA MENDOZA Associated Press

That's not the case at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Wash., where 300 programmers, developers and managers will be standing by in case of trouble -- and spending the evening partying with president Steve Ballmer.

Microsoft will supply champagne and dinner, a disc jockey and child care will be provided, spouses are welcome, and time capsules will be given out.

Mr. Jones said party invitations have been a hot item.

"We had to turn people away," he said. "Where would you rather be than Microsoft on New Year's Eve?"

Y2K-Related Virus Targets Visitors to Chat Rooms Dow Jones Newswires

NEW YORK -- Users of Internet chat rooms have been warned to be on their guards after reports of a year-2000-related virus.

The virus -- dubbed Babylonia -- is the latest in a flurry of activity among virus writers who are taking advantage of fears of computer glitches that could result when the date changes to 2000.

Dan Schrader, vice president for new technology at Trend Micro Systems Inc., a Japanese concern, said the virus prompts a computer user to download it by promising to fix a Y2K bug.

Once a chat-room participant's system is infected with Babylonia, the virus is automatically sent to other participants, Mr. Schrader said.

A troubling new feature of the Babylonia virus is its ability to enter a host system and then receive additional payloads -- instructions from its writer to perform destructive functions in its host systems, Mr. Schrader warned.

Another expert agreed. "This virus represents a new level of virus capability," said Simon Perry, a business manager for Computer Associates International Inc.

At least two Fortune 500 companies have reported attacks from the new virus, Mr. Schrader said. "We don't know how many desktops are infected," he said.

Software to protect systems from the virus is available from computer security companies.

When an infected EXE file is executed, the virus installs itself resident into Windows memory, drops an additional file and returns control to the host program.

"Where would you rather be on New Year's Eve than at Microsoft?"

How about seated between Jane Garvey and John Koskinen, in an Air EGYPT flight that has just departed New York, just before midnight EST?

no?

Well, how about as a fly on the wall of the $50 MILLION Y2K bunker near the White House where Bunker Bill( aka Beelezebubba)and his cronies will be plotting their next move on behalf of the NWO?
