I wa s looking for the post yesterday about Certificates to expire and the threat to e-commerce.

Is it a hoax? If not, what can be done to fix it??

Its nothing really, older browsers will look at the cert and see that they no longer accept the cert, not because the server cert itself is expired but because the browser side has an old cert signature.

We went through this last year I think, if you had a Thawte cert and ran old Netscapes they would see the Thawte cert as being invalid but would work with warning.

Only really old browsers will burp on this and die, but most people are running newer browsers and it shouldnt matter. Besides it will be common knowledge very soon and people will know what to expect.
