Denver-AP -- The word to the wise along the Eastern Seaboard is hang on to the bottled water, batteries and plywood stockpiled during this year's hurricane season -- next year's could be bad, too.

Forecaster William Gray and his colleagues at Colorado State University predict there will be eleven storms big enough to rate a name. That includes three hurricanes that could be really bad.

The forecast is only slightly better than this year's Atlantic storm season, which had a dozen storms -- including five major hurricanes.

The experts say people along the East Coast have nearly a 50-50 chance of experiencing at least one storm with winds of better than 100 miles-an-hour.

After Floyd devastated the eastern half of NC a couple of months ago, many kind-hearted TB2Kers donated goods and money to various NC agencies to help out. Bearing in mind the accuracy of Dr. Gray's forecasting, and if we get lucky and Y2K is pretty close to a BITR, please hold on to your remaining stash. If you don't need it yourself, there may well be some TB2Kers in need of help during hurricane season next year. And we mustn't forget the awful Oklahoma tornado earlier this year--TB2Ker's helped some there too (Greybear and friends took supplies to the victims). Natural disasters can occur at any time, of course, and we can help more directly and personally with our TB2K network. It's a good feeling.
