How Many Other Times ?

A new post, to all Fellow Humans. Geesh! bought a Solar Panel, to run a heat/refrig box. Got a Maine, deep cycle battery. Took the "Sucker" down, all the way. Proposed ad, says it is to take "down all the way". Well, guess what, the sick battery don't make it up to the top, ever again. How many, other times have we been lied to?

I think you mean marine and not Maine battery. We all know anything from Maine would work all right

Never take a lead acid battery of any type "all the way down" unless you are in a true emergency situation where losing 5 or 10% of the batteries lifetime is warranted. Most atteries will live much longer and happier lives if htey are never taken below 50 or 70% down

Besides the fact that a single PV panel is never going to support a fridge (especially one of those igloo/coleman thermoelectric coolers) a "deep cycle" marine battery is a very poor choice. Do the math! They are not much better than a car battery (same sponge lead plate construction). I did the same thing to one and it never got higher than 75% capacity (in deliverable amps) after that. Get 2 golf cart batteries this time.
