O/TChristmas Spirit

Tis my favorite time of the year, but I just can't get into the spirit. So obsessed with preparing for the unknown....anyone else feel this way? Don't feel like decorating or shopping or anything. Where's Clarence when you need him? (no..I'm not that depressed)

I know exactly what you mean. It is my turn to host the Family Christmas and I can not get in the mood. I start to do something and just get yucked out and leave it. As of right now, I have several projects dangling and my house looks like a tornado hit it and I don't care.

I hear on the tv where the economy is bursting and shoppers are buying the stores out. I think it is because everyone is thinking this might be the last good Christmas for a while. They are spending money they don't have, living and buying for the moment.

I will be glad when something happens so I can move on into whatever future we have. The waiting is awful.

I feel the same way......it's hard getting in the mood when you know that before you even take the tree down and pack away the decorations, January 1st.........and all the uncertainities that go with it....will be here! So, instead of thinking about Christmas, I'm thinking about supplies........have I prepared enough??

Ditto, re: commercial rituals. Did my shopping in 90 minutes online; usually I'll spend days in stores finding just the right things...Finish presents before Thanksgiving, to have all this time to bake and decorate the tree... I can't even get psyched to buy the darn tree right now. I see a tree stand, and think "I wonder how many days I could live off the inner bark of that one?"

Hawk...how do you do that?????????

Not me. This original "holiday junkie" prepped and checked the outdoor lights a week B4 Thxgiving; tree went up last weekend. I'm gonna enjoy this holiday like it's the last normal one I'll ever have. Only difference is Xmas gifts- going for Y2k compliance like wool blankets, windup watches, &c.

Taz,

It's easy. Just do a search for christmas clip art, gifs, animations, etc. When you find some you like, copy the image locations and paste them into a Notepad text file. Arrange them the way you like, then paste your code here as a response.

If your wondering about html code, the easiest way to learn this is by looking at the "source" of pages. To see how I coded this arrangment, right click this page and go to "view source" and you'll find it. You can test your creations by saving the your text file as a ".htm" extension, and opening it in your browser. Have fun! (just ask if you have any more questions :-)

Incidentally, if you're using Netscape, the sleigh is hovering in the middle of the page. If you try your Internet Explorer browser, you'll see that it is moving across the page. They each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Y2K might ruin the New Year, but there's no point in letting it ruin Christmas!
