My Daughter in Law works for EDS in Camp Hill. PA...she informed me that another Diesel generator was installed and that everyone is required to work manadatory OT.

Two new gennies I've noticed very recently were just installed behind a CVS in Gloucester, MA, and behind a fire station in Beverly, MA.

There's an awful lot of preps going on quietly, me thinks. These people will tell you they don't plan on using the gennies, that it's just prudent to have them. Right. They didn't plan on use gennies for the last 50 years either, and accordingly, they never bought one. Now, suddenly, they are full of prudence. These gennies are big, and they must cost a bundle. You don't spend that kind of dough unless you are afraid. Lanterns would be prudent, gennies would be balls to the wall from fear, whether they admit it or not.

Saw an article somewhere's that stated that these huge flatbed mounted generators cost upwards of $900,000. That doesn't include fuel or spare parts.

FWIW, I thought it was very interesting that a new CVS drug store, currently being built in the middle of our town, is sporting a bodacious propane tank out back of the building. Must not like the local natural gas supplier, I guess!

Paul, you better believe those big diesels are expensive! I have two 40kws here on the farm that set me back about 12 grand apiece, and I got a good deal from a friend who has a dealership and got alot of extras. Those big `100 or 500kw honkers cost 30-50grand just for the motor and alternator. This means they are damn convinced they will be needed just like me. And hooking those mothers up costs big bucks too as I so shockingly found out and requires all kinds of specialty equipment wiring and parts. They will be very busy beavers just wiring those bad boys in, and you better do it just right or you're asking for major problems!
