Y2K and UFO's

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I have been researching the subject of UFO's for about eight years now, compared to y2k which I have been researching for about a year and a half. The similarity between the two subjects has never ceased to amaze me. First of all, NEARLY ALL UFO researchers are 'y2k aware'. That is not to say that all or even most in the y2k community believe in UFO's..

First of all, in order to even entertain the thought that UFO's might be real, it is necessary to let go of the following notions:

Because the concept of extraterrestrial visitation is ridiculous, it does not deserve any research

UFO's are in the same boat as bigfoot, the loch-ness monster, and other tabloid crap

If UFO's were real, the government would certainly have told us

The only evidence for UFO's are a handful of photos (which could be fake) and anecdotes from people who are mentally unstable to begin with

Take Roswell....

The seargent who initially retrieved the debris, Jesse Marcel, is on record saying that he believes what he recovered was a UFO. The Colonel at the base, admitted on his death bed, that it was not a weather ballon, but that he was just following orders by covering up the truth. The town mortician, Glen Dennis, was asked by the military how to preserve 'small bodies' without changing their internal structure or chemical composition. Thinking there was an accident, he went to the base where he was threatened and told to get out. The next day, his friend who works on the base as a nurse told him that they brought back from the crash site these little beings with huge black eyes and four fingers, and that it was horrifying. She died the next week. Then there is Corso, who worked under Eisenhour in charge of foreign technology division, claims that indeed a UFO did crash, and that he saw bodies. He claims that much of the technology that we have today is as a direct result of the Roswell crash (i.e. Kevlar, transistor, lasors, etc.). Then there was J.Allen Hynek who was in charge of Project Blue Book, which came to the conclusion that there is no evidence that UFO's are real. Later in life, he formed the center for UFO studies (cufos) saying that he was instructed under Blue Book to debunk all cases he could and to ignore the one he could not debunk...and on, and on, and on

The one thing us y2kers have in common is that we do not let the media or government dictate to us what we will or will not believe. We do our research and come to our own conclusions. Y2K and UFO research requires an open mind, many hundreds of hours of research, and an ability to think for ourselves.

Last note...if you thought it was dicrediting to talk to people about y2k, then try telling them that UFO's are real, AND civilization as we know it is about to come to a grinding halt due to y2k :).

Yes, I cannot think of a better way to come across as a total nucase when trying to convince someone about the severity and urgency of Y2K than to bring up UFOs. Except, maybe, chemtrails.

My friend who told me about Y2K has seen UFOs, which might be "bleeds" from another dimension. However, while I don't discount UFOs, I don't care a fig about them.

From contrails to UFOs. Now there's a natural progression if I ever saw one.

After this year's education, we are willing to believe what we see. If a UFO comes down in our backyard, the aliens come out and talk to us, shake our hand, and take off, then we'll believe it. The difference is, after this year, we won't be as surprised :-)

KoS, you of all people can't consider long lines of foamy plane ejaculation in the sky?

You're too close to the subject! :-)

Forget what I said above about chemtrails. Substitute "space aliens", instead.

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), December 05, 1999.

Those that see similarities between Y2K and UFO's are the same ones who are under the impression that the Art Bell Show is a news program.

Oh No! Chemtrails outside! Gasp! Choke! Argghh! Help!...Please Help!

Hey, don't make fun of UFO's. I power my home using an ionospheric energy converter sold to me by a martian traveling salesman.

-- LOL (LOL@lol.com), December 05, 1999.

People, I have been lurking here for a 'long time' and have read with interest the reports on 'chem(con) trails. I must tell you that I see them often in the Albany N.Y. area. At first , I thought them to be merely odd but I have come to the realization , after much thought and study, that they are for real. They defy anything I know or have seen in my life. The aircraft ( I have seen as many as seven at a time period) do not fly on commercial routes. They sometimes fly in proximities that would not be permitted by the FAA. Many people in this area have 'unexplained ' upper respiratory problems. Many have sore throughts along with it. YES, I know that winter is upon us and such things can be expected! Not the case here. Something is going on. Perhaps the best way for anyone who has not observed this phenomenon is to remove their heads from their anal appertures and look skyward.

Plz take pics if you get the chance. Would be interesting to see what's going on up your way.

I once had a ride in a UFO. It was fun.

-- (Polly@troll.com), December 05, 1999.

LOL, A fellow worker of mine has pictures of what appear to be a tanker jet , spraying from the tail (not from engines). You can see the picture at TARA. Com. Look , I don't have any idea that I can substantiate that there is any kind oft conspiracy involved here , or anything else for that matter. All I am saying is that there is something going on that defies what we know about 'contrails'. Maybe it has something to do with weather patterns. I do not know! What I do know is that there are real strange patterns of trail and cirrus cloud formation that I cannot get an answer to. I have called the local airport ( which, btw, is not International) and have been told that the Tower will not accept outside calls). I called the local State Police and was told that the aircraft patrol was off duty. My local "News People" do nothing but report what is given to them .BTW I too, have a long lingering (two months) , upper respiratory problem that has no explanation. What am I to do when what I see and experience is dismissed as a kook issue? PICTURES? I know what I see! LOOK , READ, AND LISTEN for yourself.

It seems to me that the universe is an awfully big place, what with trillions of stars and all. In my opinion it's almost a certainty that some sort of technologically advanced species is out among the stars. (Perhaps that's why we cannot account for all the "missing mass" of the universe: it's all enclosed within "Dyson spheres.")

I think it's even possible that the aliens may have been visiting us, although I don't see enough evidence to be certain. It's also possible that the govt. is testing exotic kinds of new aircraft and propulsion systems which may seem LIKE alien craft.

Nevertheless, you aren't going to bring too many people to the "Y2K GI" camp by raving on about Bilderbergers, NWO, aliens, and black helicopters. There may be a grain of truth to some of these conspiracies but they are currently portrayed as magnets for the deranged and paranoid. Y2K hard times--which has IMO far more credibility and evidence--ought not be placed in the same group.

In Close Encounters of the Third Kind, during the scene in which the military was trying to explain away rumours of alien sightings, an older person at the press conference began prattling about Big Foot and so on. It was subtlely apparent that he was "planted" there by the .mils as a kooky "Straw Man" to divert attention from the actual evidence and bring ridicule to any genuine witnesses who would speak out.

It wouldn't surprise me if there has been a concerted effort on the part of propagandists to establish a conceptual link in the public's conscience between those ernestly involved in Y2K preparation and others who are on the kooky fringes of society. Who knows?

Rational Doomer I know about MJ12, Ultra-7 Security Clearance at Archuleta. The base at Dulce. And even about the Illuminati. Some things I would not bring up on this BB. Even intelligent people who see the big picture on Y2K find that they can not see the bigger picture on other matters. If you have studied UFO activity for 8 years then you will understand what I mean. Isn't ignorance bliss?

CHINA: UFO sighting one for Shanghai's X-Files

The usually staid state media in Shanghai carried reports yesterday that an unidentified flying object had been sighted in the city.

In a front-page story, with colour photographs of an object resembling a meteor, the Wenhui Daily said the UFO was spotted over western Shanghai on Thursday afternoon.

The paper said one of its reporters dashed to the 43rd floor of a building after receiving a call from a reader about the sighting. The reporter claimed he saw an illuminated object which remained stationary in the sky for about 10 minutes before it disappeared.

Two Shanghai television channels broadcast footage of an object darting through the sky with a flaming orange tail, saying nearly 100 people saw it.

A former researcher at the Shanghai Observatory, Professor Jiang Xiaoyuan, was among the witnesses but he could not offer any explanation.

The UFO hovered over Shanghai for 1.5 hours, reports said.

The city's aviation bureau and Hongqiao airport said their radar did not detect anything.

The Shanghai Daily also reported the incident in a story headlined "UFO darts across the city's skyline".

The paper ran its story on the same page as an advertisement for the X-Files movie, which is based on the television series about two American Federal Bureau of Investigation agents who probe unexplained phenomena.

The paper's Web site also listed incidents of UFO reports from different parts of the mainland throughout the year.

1.5 hours! What would that be?

-- scientists (please@reply.?), December 05, 1999.

It is interesting...I have had alot of y2kers dismiss the UFO topic in the same manner that most dismiss the y2k topic. Bizarre!

-- Rational Doomer (doomer@big.time), December 05, 1999.

The only thing that is bizarre is your inability to tell the difference between a technology issue and a social phenomenon.

Are the chips that the aliens insert in our heads y2k compliant?

-- Roy (bushwacker @ north woods.com), December 05, 1999.

Rational Doomer; It's an interesting topic UFO's and also Y2K. If you haven't noticed the film industry has put out alot of realistic movies lately and looking back. We have all grown up with "Flash Gordon" "Superman" "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" , "Roswell" "The Philadelphia Experiment" "Star Wars" , "Star Trek", have you ever wondered, if these movies are a reflection of the possiblities of actual UFO's and aliens. Then should a "real" UFO did land and CNN was there along with Dan Rather and whoever else reports this information. We the people would probably say, OH,Yea, I saw that in a movie last year, doesn't scare me !! The subliminal messages movies give us are telling us not to worry that this stuff is real,so don't panic. And besides "Superman" was an alien, but he looked just like us! Interesting !

Delete, delete, delete this thread! Pleeeeease. WRONG FORUM!

-- Colin MacDonald (roborogerborg@yahoo.com), December 06, 1999.

coprolith...you made a good point, and I think I understand and appreciate your concern for bringing people to the GI camp. Yet, should we ignore something that may be real and quite important just because someone thinks it's kooky? 'They' must think what they will.

I mentioned before that my deceased uncle was a scientist, once named Maryland's scientist of the year, and he quietly stated to me less than a month before he died that he knew there were aliens. He was a quiet and conservative man. He said it with quiet conviction, no doubt in his tone whatsoever. I planned to ask him questions when I visited again, but it was not to be.

I do believe in "aliens", but not quite in the current traditional sense. I believe they are forms of the nephilim referred to in Scripture, fallen angels or demons, if you will. The Bible also speaks of a great deception that will come in the end. I suspect these creatures will be part of that. I agree with the poster above who suggested that we are possibly being desensitized to accept this. The alien toys marketed for children look exactly like the descriptions given by people from all over the globe and from all walks of life to describe one type of "aliens" commonly seen. These aliens tell similar stories to those they abduct. They are very religious in nature. They usually are involved in some kind of sexual experimentation, as the nephilim of old also had sexual encounters with humans. If you read the account of Noah, you will read that Noah was perfect in all his generations. Noah was perfectly human. The person above who was attempting to debunk alien encounters seems to be either ignorant or misrepresenting the truth, for there are so many reports from other nations that it is unsettling. Perhaps they are just not thorough with their research? I suggest the book "Alien Encounters" by Chuck Missler. Go to the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. Ask some natives about the creatures many of them have seen. They call them something like Skinwalkers. We all like to believe that the little 'world' we personally live in is all there is, and that reality cannot be anything beyond our own little reality, or what we can understand, accept, and cope with as reality. I am very well aware of the supernatural world, because I was exposed to it when young. Flame away, those who live by 'logic' alone. Logic cannot explain Good and Evil.

-- Mumsie (shezdremn@aol.com), December 06, 1999.

Until you have proof( a dead alien body) go away. DELETE!!!

-- Crono (Crono@timesend.com), December 07, 1999.

Mumsie:

Any super-advanced civilization would probably be mistaken for supernatural beings like aliens.

My difficulty with being a "UFO True Believer" is that (1) I've never seen a UFO, personally (well, a meteor, maybe, but that's different); (2) Interstellar travel within a human lifespan is practically impossible according to the laws of physics as we currently understand them; (3) no one's ever found an alien body; (4) no one's ever communicated with an alien or demonstrated unequivocally that they had travelled on an alien spacecraft....etc. etc.

I could go on but it seems to me that they would rather leave us primitives alone, as we are almost certainly too destructive and barbaric for their tastes. And that's 100% speculation but there you have it...

-- coprolith (coprolith@fakemail.com), December 07, 1999.

oh I was supposed to say that "an advanced civilization would probably be indistinguishable from supernatural beings like angels..." I mean why harp over semantics? Both are mythical creatures and both are very powerful.
