Just thought I would report on my preps that I packed over a year ago are looking great!! Can't wait to start eating them. I wanted to check them incase anything was wrong, like bugs or moulding but everything was great! Wishing you all have the same luck with yours!

I bought a case of blackeye peas last New Year. I put the lb packages in large coffee cans and sealed with masking tape. I opened up one can today and the peas are fine. I have sugar stored in ziplock bags in a metal trash can. I opened up one bag and found two little glossy black bugs in the bag. The bugs looked dead to me. Anyone ever see bugs in sugar? I still used the sugar.

I've been having an ant problem and couldn't figure out what they were getting into. They were crawling from a front window, up the wall and into the attic. I don't have food stored in the attic, just Xmas ornaments and empty computer boxes. I bought some ant traps and laid them on the trail, guaranteed to kill the buggers. I've had the traps laid for a week and they keep coming. I got up into the attic yesterday to bring down some Xmas stuff and noticed ants all over a box. I opened up the box and a zillions ants were inside!!!! What the hell were they after? Digging down further, I discovered candy canes that grandma had packed away! I brought the box down and cleaned out everything, but the ants are still here. I have about 30 boxes up in the attic to go through tomorrow in search of the candy cane store. Woes me.
