Suggestion for new article posting

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

We often seem to post a single article several times on this forum. I suggest regular posters use a standard format for posting a news article.... source, colon, title. For example...

Reuters: Danzas' US unit ready for any Y2K freight problems

It is also helpful to include the actual link at the top of the news article.

I expect a high volume of Y2K stories in the coming 60 days... it might help reduce redundancy and make the forum more readable. Just a thought, folks....

Excellent suggestion, Ken. Will begin posting with this format.

... not to mention taking a minute to actually look through the threads before posting .....

I used to do alot of good posts here but got tired of it when I would see two or more people post the same exact thing on the same day AFTER I posted. Now I only post occaisionally.

I agree...I thought I had gone through the earlier threads thoroughly, but missed Homer Beanfang's thread on New Mexico Power supply. (see my new thread above.)

Good idea, Ken.

That is a GREAT idea Ken!

Unfortunately, It will never happen. It would require too much time and forethought on behalf of the posters. What this place needs is fora compartmentalization. Such as a: 1) chem/contrail forum, 2) media forum, 3) social forum, 4) commodities forum, 5) military forum, 6) poetry forum, 7) religious forum, 8) personal protection forum, 9) health and medicine forum, 10) an embedded chip forum, lord, can even break those down into subsets. The point is...we only have 29 days left to go, and there would be more people posting soon. Prepare to spend your time reading nothing but subject headers.

Yeah, right, I'm sure that this convention will be adopted as readily as the one where everyone is supposed to put their name at the TOP of their posts so you know who is posting before you get to the bottom.

Oh Laura, gawdess, you forget the "female, independent, childless, hetero Club" sub-set. The archives are very nicely categorized....have you bothered to look?

I would agree with Ken on this, except he should have made it clear that he was talking about the Title or Subject of the thread. On that note, we could often use some improvement in the titles. It's not very helpful to see ones such as "What do you thing of this?," "Isn't this something?," "Isn't this Weird?," "Important Question," or "Help!"

KoS, about the idea of identifying ourselves at the top of our contributions... I think I'll start doing that!
