Where in the world is everyone?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi all!

As many of you remember, on 22 Nov/99 I asked if people would let our family put their nicknames on a map of North America, so we could remember you all and keep you in our prayers.

WELL.....

We had to get a World Map (National Geographic, very nice...) and are currently putting pins up! The boys are having tons of fun, and I can "see" you all when you post--by looking at the map!

Thanks again to this big family!

You all are on our minds and in our prayers.

I must say, Kurt, that I enjoy seeing your/my name printed so often on this board. I and mine are located in the beautiful Blue Ridge region of Virginia, just north of Lynchburg, a leisurely drive from Halifax County, where wildman Paul Milne lives. I've even met the man and live to tell the tale. You out there, Paul? Still smoking tooooooooo many cigarettes?

Hi!

I'm from the capitol of Michigan - - Lansing. But the post from Ft. Benning (Columbus, GA,) got my attention. My parents met at Ft. Benning in the early '20s. My father was a First WW veteran, one of few men at the base who could type, so he was working in the office for Major Geuneau (sp?), later a general. My dad had earned a Silver Star with two oak leaf clusters, from two stints overseas. My mother was 'on loan' from a Columbus bank, and she noticed my dad skipping mud-puddles and thought he was too young to be in the service. (He was blond and short.) Then he showed up in the office where she was working! Well. this Southern Belle and my father, from Peoria, Ill, had the makings of a romance. Both are now dead.
