Okay, don't flame me, because I am not saying this is Y2K-related. Merely food for thought. Our accounts receivable manager got the following notice this morning:

December 2, 1999

Dear Home Delivery Customer: We want to apologize to our many home delivery customers in the Washington/Baltimore/Wilmington area who received their Tuesday Times either late that day or not until the following day.

We experienced an unfortunate sequence of severe -- in fact unprecedented -- equipment and electrical problems in our local printing plant [emphasis mine] on the night we printed Tuesday's paper.

Our plant is up and running on schedule once again, and we do not expect a recurrence of these problems.

Once again, we regret any inconvenience you may have experienced, and appreciate your understanding.

The New York Times
