Roy, I have a pen with me at all times, just waiting for the petition for son of 695 to come out. There is an army of people out there in Washington, waiting to sign the petition. When, "Son of 695" passes, do you know the first thing I am going to do? I am going to post a note on this website thanking DB for showing us the typical attitude of our Washington government. His comments will help this initiative get passed.

Roy:

You are way too serious about these posts. This is just a long distance conversation between 30 or 40 people who don't know each other; and they will not change the world, and have little chance of changing any minds. It is not worth getting overly heated about.

Since it is clear you don't like my posts, I suggest you follow the advice of Rolex and treat them as an opportunity to get to know the enemy thinking. That is what I am doing on this site.

As for being a "tax to the max" guy, I would object to that in literal terms; but I understand the point. I believe we (the community) need to tax ourselves to fund services. How much, determines what governments can do for us. Some governments are not effective or efficient, and others are. I believe that is properly the responsibility of the elected officials of the specific government, and the voters who elect those officials. I do not support funding cuts that effect all governments, without regard to whether they are effective, efficient, or responsive to their voters.

You guys are probably going to slam me for this, but I prefer d's self righteousness (self confidence?) over the selfish, boo-hoo-hoo, I've been hurt by 695 crowd who resort to name calling because they didn't get their way.

None of us would have spent much time reading and posting here if there weren't two opposing sides. I would like to think everyone here has, at the very least, become more informed because of d's posts. d has never insulted me like some others on the anti side.

What is the purpose of this forum? Mud slinging and name calling? Or an intelligent exchange of viewpoints? Roy, my earlier posts with you were very informative and positive. I guess I just don't get it.

dbvz,

I've given you a hard time in the past about being a socialist, however, I've always felt you have been polite in your posts and appear to be commited to your beliefs.

Like Roy, I also want to see some people squirm over Son of I-695, however, sometimes we need to lighten up and not take ourselves so seriously.

So hang in there with us. Who knows, you may yet have the last laugh!

P.S. I still think you are a socialist, however, Paula and I still like you.

Personal pique towards one individual rarely constitutes a good reason to change law. Clearly d is entitled to his opinion, and you and I are entitled to work to decrease the general level of taxation if we believe that is an appropriate means to rein in an overly expansive bureaucracy. But I wouldn't link the two, personally. If you are particularly vexed with d, I'd suggest that you challenge him to a water-balloon fight in mid-January or something. Course you might get cold and wet....................... ...

Tax to the Max? Well, when I was out on the debate circuit telling everyone all the solid reasons that I-695 would win, someone asked me what I would be willing to pay tax for. (sorry about the grammer, folks) I answered that I would be happy to be taxed to fund the legitimate function of government as stated in Article I Section 1 of the state constitution: "... to protect and maintain individual rights." It shouldn't take $45,207,543,000. per biennium to protect and maintain individual rights.

Everything I do is a work of Art
