For me, I think the tree is interesting but I feel the backround is too bright.

I like the white background compared with the earlier shot you posted. Since the image appears to be intended as an abstract graphic design rather than a documentary shot, I like the white. It's clean and focuses the attention on the forms of the tree and branches and the intense colors of the leaves.

When did manipulation become appropriate in this forum?

If it is, I have new some hand colored and sepia toned nature images to post.

Sorry. I don't think zooming or slow film speed or small apeerture did anything for this picture. I might have liked it at a much higher shutter speed.
