FYI 6:00pm news -local ABC-TV affil. - New Bern NC - House fire in downtown was responded to by fire engine that couldn't pump water from hydrant to fire. Fire Chief blamed malfunctioning electronics. All trucks are checked every Wed. morning, including today, to be sure they work without problems. Chief couldn't explain what went wrong. No one mentioned Y2K. Maybe it was just one of those things!

I can tell you for a fact that the Air Force checked their fire equipment (at one base at least) and found that they were NOT Y2K complaint.

This could be the first instance of an outright Y2K embedded systems failure. There could be more yet to come this "December 1, 1999". Let's hope not...but do continue to prepare.

That poor family!!!Losing their home just as winter is starting to set in on the mid-Atlantic coast. I'm sure it hurt the firefighters just as much, they are such a dedicated and compassionate group of people. It must have broke their hearts too.
