Massey-Ferguson #10 Baler

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am doing off-season repairs on our Massey-Ferguson #10 Baler and find the rails inside the baler that the plunger runs back and forth on are worn and damaged badly. New ones would run into hundreds of dollars. I am wondering if anyone has made replacement rails out of plain ordinary angle iron and flat bar. If so, did it work or is there a problem with them being too soft. Baler is all in good shape other than this.

yes Pete you can do this i was in a pinch during baleing i used side rails from an old bedstead just left them a little longer than the slide movement, that was proably ten years ago i aimed to replace them when i finished the season.this is first time i have thought of them, when i read your question .so i would say go for what you have handy long as the track is straight i had a 46 ih baler and got that track sprung ,it would,nt tye on one side until i got it strait ,hope this help don
