Y2K-Newswire, einer der bekanntesten amerikanischen Nachrichtensammler im Internet, stellt seine Tätigkeit ein, bis zum 1.1.2000, er sieht keinen Sinn mehr in einer Warnung, es sei zu spät und die Regierung zu verantwortungslos. Der Y2K-Film war seine letzte Hoffnung. Sein ausführlicher Abschiedsbericht endet mit den Worten "Gott schütze Amerika".

Zum Nachdenken: Der Glaubensschock
Nehmen wir einmal an, jemand glaubt an die Treue seines Ehepartners, kommt nach Hause und stellt fest, daß der Partner nicht allein im Bett liegt. Ist dies ein Schock? Sicherlich.
Die Menschen heute glauben an die Unfehlbarkeit der Computer, an die Machbarkeit der Technik, an die Allmacht der Wissenschaft.
Was passiert, wenn dieser Glaube erschüttert wird? Ein Schock, Panik, unkalkulierbares Verhalten.
Wenn dann anschließend noch Zeit ist zum Nachdenken, zum Erkennen, daß man auf einen Irrglauben hereingefallen ist, wird der Schock noch größer. Die Menschen verlieren ihren Halt.
Und dies in einer Welt, in der es ohnehin kaum noch moralische Werte gibt. Das gibt Mord und Totschlag.
Der Glaube an die Machbarkeit der Technik wurde durch den US-Y2K- Film sogar noch gestärkt. Ein Held geisterte durch den Film, der in jeweils letzter Minute die größten Katastrophen verhinderte.
Der Glaube ist unerschütterlich. Es kann nicht sein, was nicht sein darf, an was man nicht glauben will. Keine Panik also, bevor nicht etwas Gravierendes passiert.
Außerdem hat man Wichtigeres zu tun. Das Weihnachtsfest steht vor der Tür. Keine Zeit für Panik, keine Zeit für Vorbereitungen, man muß Geschenke kaufen, ein Fest vorbereiten.
Langsam frage ich mich, ob die Panik nicht erst im Januar beginnt. Wie lange wartet der US-Präsident mit seinen Notstandsgesetzen? Vielleicht bis zur letzten Minute?
Eine Umfrage, wer die schlimmsten Verbrecher dieses Jahrhunderts seien, brachte das Ergebnis: "1. Hitler, 2. Clinton, 3. Stalin". Nun ja, Clinton hat ja noch Chancen auf Platz 1 aufzurücken. Z.B. wenn seine Truppen auf hungernde und frierende Bürger schießen.
Auch der Glaube an die Regierungen wird noch erschüttert. Unbegreiflicherweise ist er immer noch vorhanden.
Die großen christlichen Organisationen schwenken auf die Regierungslinie ein "Keine Gefahr". Früher boten die Kirchen Zuflucht in Notsituationen. Der Glaube an Gott war der letzte Rettungsanker, wenn alles andere versagte. Und heute? An wen oder was werden die Menschen nach dem Rollover noch glauben?
Panik, Chaos, Haltlosigkeit, Zusammenbruch der Gesellschaft, jeder nur noch für sich, das sind die Aussichten für die nächsten Monate.
Notgepäck, neunter Vorschlag (Listen):
Nur ein Vorschlag, nach Bedarf und Möglichkeiten streichen und/ oder ergänzen.
Die gewählte Reihenfolge ist willkürlich. Die Wichtigkeit einzelner Teile muß jeder selbst bewerten.
Alle Vorbereitungen abgeschlossen? Alle Listen fertig? Nein? Wie soll denn in einem Notfall ein Familienangehöriger/ Verwandter/ Bekannter etwas finden? Listen sind gefragt. Was liegt wo? Was ist vorhanden, was fehlt, was muß noch erledigt werden? Listen, Listen, Listen. Anschriften und Telefonnummern nicht vergessen.
Alles fertig? Dann noch mal gründlich überprüfen und kontrollieren. Vor uns liegt die größte Katastrophe seit dem zweiten Weltkrieg. Wahrscheinlichkeit fast 100%. Mathematisch exakt berechenbar.
Alles fertig? Dann kopieren, mehrere Exemplare, damit eines immer griffbereit ist.

Ansonsten: In der Annahme, daß jedermann über warme Decken und warme Kleidung verfügt, reicht es, um Verwandte, Freunde, Nachbarn, Hausbewohner etwa 14 Tage lang mit allem Lebensnotwendigen zu versorgen.
