J&J ask me to sell shares

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Johnson & Johnson sent me a form asking if those own less than 100 shares want to sell(by 11/27/99). JNJ share today is $104 so 100 shares is not a small money. Why would a company ask shareholders to sell??? Are they trying to reduce the size of database to easily handle y2k 'bumps'? Any thought out there??

More likely to be a simple buy back plan and lots of small shareholders make lots of costs for administration.HTH

They ALWAYS do that, always have!!!!!! The RBOCs used to nag me constantly. Standard operating procedure.
