Has it occurred to you that when Oprah was looking for an Ed Yourdan and a Dear Karen for her show

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

that she was going to film on Nov 16th. Yesterday she referred to 80 days to go on several occassions. Do you think she had second thoughts and thought she would do a second show? If she did, "they" got to her and nipped it in the bud.

Oh sure, Taz. They put the conspiracy wheel into rotation. The program didn't have enough experts or industry leaders who said what you wanted to hear, so surely, it must be some conspiracy of spin.

Sure sounds logical to me.

Taz,

A most excellent observation.

I didn't see the show, so am not quite clear on what you mean. 80 days to go was Oct. 13th.

Was she perhaps just so much a DGI that she didn't know/care how close it was... on the 16th (filming day) it was day 46, on the 29th (broadcast day) it was day 33. 33?..46?..80? Whatever... its all hype and if its not all hype its all fixed anyway.. isn't it???

Does it really matter?

People who watch Oprah-type shows = those who watch soaps.

Those who watch soaps = permanent cabbage-head DGI's.

daytime t.v. = Total Garbage
get over it.

IMHO, Oprah prides herself on being a giant feel-good-drug for the masses, pumping out all the pop psychology she can muster. I suspect she was too self-absorbed with her "comfort" agenda to go out on the controversial limb on this one...Heh, have you guys noticed the perhaps smug attitude her viewers have over persons who watch the other talkshows? It's makin Oprah even richer...

Good morning. I've only seen Oprah a couple of times, but there seemed to be a touch of cynicism in her body language. Her eyes had no sparkle and her humor was forced. The smiling drones in the audience were the best part. They reminded me of attendees at hillary clinton's speeches. BS of the worst sort.

I taped it. Not seen it. My GI roommate watched, said it was a masterpiece.

Who are "they"?

-- just (just@asking.com), November 30, 1999.

Oprah TURNED DOWN Karen Andersen and Michael Hyatt for appearances on the show.

don't be so uppity!! NIGHTTIME TV=GARBAGE. just look at discovery, TLC, history, USA, UPN, FOX.

Dennis...the point is that THIS SHOW WAS TAPED BEFORE she ever approached Karen Anderson. So why did she even talk to Karen??

Taz. Aha! I see what you're saying, now. Very, very interesting. Aparently, she wasn't so convinced by the show itself.
