X-pired tab cite

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

I understand that if you are caught driving on expired tabs, the ticket will run 71 dollars if the tabs are 60 days or less overdue. What happens if you are caught a second or a third time - does the cost of the ticket increase per infraction?

I think the general advice is gonna be: Park it for 30 days.

Trying to figure out on a nickel or dime basis ultimately won't be worth it. Especially since all those 'pink-slipped' police officers will be looking for infractions all the more. If you can't park it fer 30 days, then always make sure a civilian is behind you, so cops can't read your plate. Do NOT park on the street, and if you see a cop behind you, at any distance, take an unprogrammed turn. Or, be honest and pay the tabs.

Do what Paul says, or slap some mud or clay over the year tab and make sure it stays. hahaha.

For something that is needed only rarely, you can buy the 3 day trip tickets. If you plan when you need it, that could get you to January at a reasonable price.

I don't think that would work unless the entire vehicle was covered in mud. Just seeing the year or month tag covered in mud would be very suppositious.

Also not sure (would have to check my RCW's) but I do believe there is a law covering visiblity of rear license plate, that's why there a lights for it. And it is the only place on the rear of a vehicle where a "white light" can be.

Colors of light for the front and rear of vehicles are covered in the RCW's along with the color of the overhead lights for cop cars.

If anyone on this site ever wants to be a cop, they should study all the little, less known violations.

Ed - never had a quota, always wrote as many as tickets as I wanted

Yes Ed, I know I know. There are laws covering the visibility and colors of light. I was just going along with the tricky methods Paul had offered. In fact, back when I took driver's education, I think we talked about a little known/used law that required some sort of garbage bag in your car. I don't know if it's still around, but how many tickets could be given for that? I know quite a few people that would get one! :)

yea, it's still around. Used to be a $75 fine. Don't recall anyone chickens%%t enough who ever wrote someone up for it though.

Ed - hey, I never cited anyone for that either. damn
