Wildly OT: A book on the codfish?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi Folks,

When I said "Wildly OT" I wasn't kidding! But I know what a bunch of erudite and helpful people live on this board so I'll ask this question...

When I was in Ireland last year I overheard a conversation between two americans regarding a book one of them had read which seemed to be all about the Codfish. The person who had read it seemed to think that it was a particularly profound book and I got the impression that it had been something of a best seller in the States. I have no idea of the title or the author, I don't think it was a "hit" in Australia.

Does anybody know any details of the book, and if you've read it how about a quick review?

The slight Y2K connection is that as part of my preps I'm trying to put together a heap of worthwhile reading in case there's nothing better to do, and, like all the best prep items, a heap of good books will never go to waste.

Thanks for any help anybody can provide.

This should help. I've heard the author interviewed.

Thanks Zev,

"Cod! Who would ever have thought it would be called that", says Ron with an embarrassed expression!

Judging by the reviews I can see why the reader seemed impressed, they are univerally positive. It's on the list!

Any other suggestions for top reading anybody?

Thanks
