I purchased several all wool military blankets. Now I need to wash them. How do I wash them and not have them shrink? I washed one wool blanket before, and it didn't end up the same size it was before the washing. It was old and about worn out, so I didn't worry about it much, but these are new and I want them to last several years. Any help would be appreciated.

Cold water and line dry.

As Marci said, cold water and line dry (or throw over the bushes) I don't put mine in the washing machine! swish around in the bathtub and rinse twice, GENTLY squeeze excess water out.

Agitation in a washing machine will cause felting and shrinkage, Hand wash in cold water or use delicate cycle cold water , Line dry.Herbal dog shampoo works well to wash anything wool.
