Gary's Ok by me, but why did he bow out on FOX?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Fox aired tonight part two of their y2k special on people really prepping... interviewing folks in the Arkansas Ozarks, etc...

They tried to get Scary Gary to talk to them, but he bailed...

What's up Gary? Looked to me like a chance to really wake up the sheeple, but you went AWOL... so what gives?

Doing an Infomagic, Hyatt et al on us?

I love Gary too, but realiztically, he can't go on any major media...they would tear him apart...his past false predictions, his statement's saying he HOPES y2k is bad, not to mention his 'stone adultere to death' religion. I will always respect GN...but I certainly understand why he doesn't do interviews!!

C, you must have mistaken this forum for Gary North's forum. I suggest you ask your question on GN's forum. Sorry, I don't have the link, perhaps someone will post it. Of course, if you're trying to get your message across that North is ducking out on something, then I suppose you posted in the right place. What North does or doesn't do is no concern of mine. It's what the cops, navy, fema, etc. do that give me my clues.

Maybe his 'handlers' realized he couldn't deal with straight up, real-life questions from ordinary, sane people....from outside his little terror-microcosm

What I forgot to mention (by way of response to He) is that anything Gary North does is germane to whatever happens on this forum. They both have been in league in the pushing of Fear from the beginning....Ed got a lot of his theory from Gary. It sells books and tapes.

Y2k is a business, and don't you forget it.

I'm not attacking any posters on this forum. I am very definitely attacking Gary North and Ed Yourdon. (Lest the sysops have any doubts.)

If Gary has half a brain he will go to ground from now on. If its TEOTWAWKI who do you think the gubmint is going to blame? Themselves? Gary is in too close of range and their sites are probably already locked in on him.

Mr. Chicken Little,

I was currently reading a story in the Wash. post this morning. In the story is a picture of REAL people protesting to the City of D.C. about their paychecks, which have been screwed up for SIX weeks. Some have quit.

Real people? Six weeks? Compliant system!!!!! Take your idiocy somewhere else!

Chicken--bawk, bawk. YOU CALL THE MEDIA REAL PEOPLE??????? yah right. with the depth and attention span of a 5 year old!!!!!!!! just wait until Y2K hits -- they will be terrorizing the public because it is fun and because the news is there!!!! the public needs to know!!!!! sure, after the fact.

Chickenita writes: "They both have been in league in the pushing of Fear from the beginning....Ed got a lot of his theory from Gary. It sells books and tapes. "Y2k is a business, and don't you forget it."

If you look at the thread They Are Spraying Us, you'll see my response, which includes this: "1) when I was doing public meetings for Y2K education I was accused of a) fearmongering, and b) in it for the money. Well, not really me, but I had a friend who had a cannery. Both these accusations came from Doreen Kelly, who is the director for Butte County Red Cross. This was reported to me from two people that I know to be honest and reputable."

The "cannery" was operated just above cost to help people prepare. So, of course if Y2K is hype, then the biz feeds on the hype. Beware the real hypesters, though, that say "Don't bother about preparing because it's a non-event." The Red Cross dir. thought Y2K was hyp because she heard a guy on talk radio who had a book for sale.

Who gives product away for free? What doctor treats patients for free? Chickenita, do you collect a paycheck? Why not be noble and do it for free?

Don't mean to sound harsh on this, don't mistake my tone, please, but Gary doesn't scare anybody. What happens is that people get scared when faced with certain information. North doesn't manufacture documents as far as I know. I spoke at a town hall meeting in Feb, to over 300 people. PG&E, Red Cross, the water people, PacBell, the hospital all gave glowing happy reports. I was last. I apologize for bring bad news, but I had a copy of the newspaper, with the new Senate report in it. The Senate report stated that this was going to have a very profound effect on our country, lives could be lost.

I heard later that the Red Cross lady complained becasue the old people went right out and bought bottled water. Imagine that, that they were doing some preparing for disruptions.

This was a hard path to walk: what to do: speak the "truth," what the GAO reports, what the Senate, etc reports, at the risk of people getting afraid, or sugar-coat it and lie? The government at all levels offered zero-point-oh-oh-one in the way of help in getting the msg out about preparedness.

North and Ed Yourdon would have done no "business" at all, if the WhiteHouse and the big boys had decided to properly warn the public and mount a huge domestic preparedness program.

I think Chuck Missler hit it on the head: This is the betrayal of the American people.

Quick question:

Why is it, when I post here with a viewpoint that some-odd Doomer might disagree with; why is it that said Doomer seems to love to feminize my handle/name?

The "Shakey" creature seems to delight in calling me "Ms. Little".

"johno" just termed me "Chickenita". See right above.

There are more examples of this I could enumerate, were I disposed to spend the time to search for them.

Have any of you females here taken note of this? It's as if a feminine name is tantamount to a derogatory term. Maybe you ladies need to take these chauvinists to task over such usage.

Of course, I'd be glad to take any of these fellows to task. Calling someone by a feminine term is one thing. Meeting them man-to-man out in my front yard is quite another. And I doubt any of them would, for that matter.

Easy to type. Another thing to back it up.

Chicken,

Does that mean you're *not* a hen? I sure wasn't sure judging by your name.

Well - he is rather "cock-sure" of himself...

Maybe if your handle were Big Rooster they'd have called you Mr. Rooster or Roostahgrande. Do you know how foolish you look right now?
