Just a note but have many of you been keeping an eye on your Armory ? In casual passing I have noticed a local Armory in my area has been completely upgraded with all new transports. And, the number of these units has doubled. This within the last 3 months of this year. The (2) Guardsmen I know are tight lipped and cannot speak on the matter. Observations ?

Rob, part of that is the Joint Chiefs decision to upgrade the NG to be sure they are ready in case of callup for brushfire wars. Optimal scenario is for our readyforce to be able to handle at least two middle class scuffles at the same time. Realisticaly, there just ain't no way, pardner.

Response to the reality is to dramatically upgrade NG status to 'part-time' soldier instead of 'week-end' warrior so that the response time is lessened greatly. Your friends are probably tight lipped because of the far more intense training level being enforced currently.

OTOH, there may well be other reasons. 34 days and we'll know.

The only armory around here belongs to our neighbors, whom we affectionately refer to as gun-nuts. Of course, there are those that would consider us nutty for our more modest collection of 12 guns. But that amount isn't considered unusual around here, which is one reason I scoff at the idea of the NG going door-to-door in this area.

I passed by the Army reserve facility in Long Beach, CA about a week ago. There was absolutely nothing going on there out of the ordinary. In fact, the place looked to be closed. There were a couple of dozen trucks in the parking lot, nothing but pickup type vehicles. That doesn't mean somethings not happening elseware, just not here.

Here in Idaho I don't think we have to worry about anyone taking our guns. Unless they are rampaging in the "Free Idaho" areas. Even then they know better. Seriously, the NG and USAF (Armed Forces) don't have the manpower to do more than provide a show of force. I hope they aren't needed. If the are "needed" then we are in deep kimche anyway.

Kimche! Stinky, Rotten, Cabbage! So much hot sauce it kills bugs in what you have canned ladies!! Do the best you can with the worst you have! Kimche kills intestinal parasites!! It is HOT and crunchie!! My husband is N.G. and served time in Korea. Kimche is nasty stuff.

So is the fact N.G. may have to do the best they can with what they have and it may not be is not enough!! I keep kimche in "my" fridge all the time.
